Chapter 188

"Is Japan a socialist country?" What stands out is the disparate economic measures that lack the perspective of long-term principles of international competition. It is a pity that the tax was raised for the reason of fiscal discipline after such wasteful use of tax money. I have to say that it puts the cart before the horse. Isn't it better not to do it? The depreciation of the yen has remained within 150 yen for the time being, but market principles are ruthless. Since the declining international competitiveness of Japan is the cause of the depreciation of the yen, high prices, and low wages, the bulky economic measures are nothing more than a temporary relief. I tried to think about the reason why the government brings up only such foolish measures. Isn't the fundamental reason in Japan's demographics? The average age of the Japanese is 48.6 years old, which is the second fastest aging population in the world. By the way, the first place is Monaco, a small country with a population of only 38,350 (2021) (World Population Review 2022) The population composition is 11.6% under the age of 15, 59.3% between the ages of 15 and 64, and 49.9% over the age of 65 (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications October 2020 report). Already, it is a frightening composition, with pensioners making up half the population. In elections, idle pensioners have a higher voter turnout than working generations who are busy with work and family, so politicians prefer pensioners over younger or working generations.

But why is the Kishida administration's approval rating declining despite such policies? It would be that the people are seeing through the shallow motives. Even the issue of the former Unification Church was completely untouched until former Prime Minister Abe was assassinated. The Olympics corruption is now coming to light one after another. These may be the achievements of the Kishida administration, but they are perceived as the same company.

Young people should raise their voices. Elderly people may be able to receive pensions and slip into safety, but young people who are forced to shoulder the burden are not unbearable. In order to correct the disparity, it may be possible to give a different weight to each vote according to the age demographics. The disparity in the total number of votes cast by age is far greater than the disparity in the number of electoral votes. What is the most important issue that Japan should tackle now? It is to increase the number of working generations. It would be a good idea for people over the age of 65 to work, but we need policies that energetic young people from overseas want to come to Japan and study and work for.

Accepting refugees should be more proactive. Accepting refugees and providing them with a place to live and work is far more socially beneficial than paying for Ukraine's arms and ammunition assistance, and it will also benefit the Japanese economy. Municipalities, which are troubled by the problem of vacant houses, should be quick-witted and respond flexibly.

Refugees would probably prefer to live in a run-down, leaky house rather than staying in a tent. As for refugee support, if we solicit people from all over the country to provide vacant houses, we can support them without incurring any costs. Then, in each community, volunteer organizations should take care of home repairs and job placement. If they live in the countryside, even if the government doesn't do anything, their neighbors will take care of them. In recent years, only the bad side of politics has become conspicuous, but business people should also be firm. I believe that if companies stop relying on the government and fulfill their respective roles, Japan will be able to recover. In that sense, I want to make the micro LED display a product no matter what.
